Airports & getting there
Tbilisi International Airport (TBS)
Tbilisi's only operating airport, about 17-22km southeast of downtown (20-30 min by car off-peak, up to 45-60 min in heavy traffic).
Bus 337 - cheapest option, reaches Freedom Square; about 1 GEL with a Metromoney card, 45-60 minutes, runs roughly 7:00-23:00 only
Official taxi from the airport rank - usually starts at 35-50 GEL to downtown, about 20-30 minutes
Bolt app - usually cheaper than a traditional taxi, roughly 15-25 GEL to downtown
Limited train to the central station - only two trips a day, a token fare around 0.5 GEL
Pre-booked private transfer - convenient for late-night arrivals or heavy luggage
Transit & the transit card
Tbilisi Metro (2 lines, 23 stations)Red line and Green line through downtown, the Old Town, and western residential areas; runs roughly 6:00 to midnight.
Metromoney / Travel CardUnified transit card for metro, buses, and cable cars; the card itself costs about 2 GEL, each ride 1 GEL with a free transfer within 90 minutes.
Public busesA wide network covering nearly every district; same 1 GEL fare with the Metromoney card.
Marshrutka (minibuses)Fixed routes but flexible stops, useful for destinations the metro does not reach directly.
Ride-hailing apps (Bolt and Yandex)Bolt is the most widely used (Uber is not available in Georgia); most downtown rides cost 3-6 GEL.
